Nashville G'tar Town 2009

     

A dear friend, David Hart, who owns Nashville Wine and Spirits in said Tennessee city, called out of the blue last week and put me on a plane to "the Athens of the South". They actually do have their own full size replica of the Acropolis with manditory Athena statue. When David calls, its bound to be challenging but I will always dive in because I don't want to miss out on something interesting. But I digress...

David was the first person to really introduce me to wine at a pivotal point when he was the only guy importing Kermit Lynch, Bobby Kacher, Terry Theise, Fran Kysela... the list goes on. These folks were absolutely unknown in the US and David had a wonderful niche market based on his uncanny love and knowlege of artisan wine. I remodeled David's retail store and then built a cool house (see above pics) for him on 50 acres surrounded by a 20,000 acre game preserve outside Nashville. Needless to say, this was my graduate work (along with my wacky carpentero guru, David Williams).

This particular pending adventure is about remodeling an old 1800's building in downtown Nashville. More sordid details later, but I love old buildings. It is a great thrill to crawl through a little 2x2 opening (Alice's rabbit hole) and have it open up into an original, untouched stone and brick cavern with 25 foot ceilings.
